Angels Sanguine- Scriptor

Hello,

after a longer Time without any update or News, here´s something brandnew:

Yesterday i finished the Scriptor for my Angels Sanguine SM Chapter. It´s the real awesome looking Scriptor out of the "Dark Vengeance"-Box.

I only had to add a Jump Pack out of my Sparebox to let him "fit" in my Army. I did´nt cut away the Dark Angel Insignia on his Chest because this could be also a generic Icon used by several Chapters. (and i was too lazy for that too ^^)

To let him look like an Scriptor for the Angels Sanguine i only had to paint his Chorrock in Red/Black. These Colours were painted like i allways do when i paint my Angels... (see the other Articles for that)
The Blue Armour was created by mixing the good old GW Regal Blue 1:1 with Alaitoc Blue. After that i washed the Model with Drakenhof Nightshade and then i started to work the Surfaces out with the basic Mix. Last Step was to apply an very soft Highlight by using Hoeth Blue on the Edges.

Painting the Powerweapon was quite easy.... i started with GW Sotek Green, followed by blendings with Temple Guard Blue. The final Highlights were added with a mix of White and Temple Guard Blue.

So.... here he is....
Hope he will bring psionic punishement upon the foes of the Emperor! ^^

painting my Waaaghblades (W.I.P.)

Hello everybody,

do you remember my Waaaghblades (converted Necron Tombblades)... If not, no matter...here´s the Article

Today i started to paint the first of them. Only some easy and very soft blendings on the Red, because i will rework the whole surfaces by adding sketches and some dirt.

Colours used so far:

Citadel Mephiston Red
Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet
Reaper Shadowed Steel (lightened up a little bit with Vallejo Model Air "Steel")
Wash (Metal Parts).: 50/50 Mix GW Badab Black and GW Devlan Mud
Wash (Red Parts): Army Painter soft Tone Wash

more to come, so stay tuned
(and feel free to leave a comment ;) )

Sometimes painting is real Joy!

It was great pleasure to build and paint this Model.... why? It was a Birthday Present for a very good Friend.

The Model is painted in the Colours of my Friend´s custom made Space Marine Chapter. (Medium Blue works well with Blue/Grey-ish tones! ^^)

Hope, he will have lots of Fun with this little Beauty!

Waaagh-Blades (converted Necron Tomb-Blades)^^

Another proof that Orcs can loot everything! ^^

Quick and easy to build.... The only Parts i needed were: Necron Tomb Blades, Orcbiker Body and Legs, Pilot Heads, Pilot Arms (taken from the original Killakopta´s), some Guns, Rockets, Equipment and other "orky" Stuff...

The second one is my favorite so far... a bit more "orky" than the first and ingame i can choose to use him as Kopta with Rockets or Kopta with Mega Blasta ^^

Well, 2 build... one left to build. Then they will be ready to be painted (Red of course! ) ^^

Hope you like them....

Tutorial: Angels Sanguine with the new Citadel Colours (Part 1)

Hello Folks and Fellows....

I received some Mails from Painters and Gamers who wanted to know how i did my Angels Sanguine. There are several Tutorials about painting this Chapter in the Web, but all were made while the old Colours were present. So i decided to create a "How to..." Article by using the new Citadel Range.
Today i show you Part 1 of this Tutorial in which i´ll show you how to apply the Red tones.

Colours you will need:

Mephiston Red (Base)
Carroburg Crimson (Shade)
Evil Sunz Scarlet (Layer)
Wild Rider Red (Layer)
Bloodletter (Glaze

optional: Yriel Yellow (Layer)

Step One:
After i primed the Model in white, i applied a Coat of Mephiston Red to the left half of the Miniature. Don´t care if you paint more than accurate and exactly "the half" Miniature, this can be corrected later! After that i covered the whole red Areas with Carroburg Crimson....

Step Two:
When the Shade was dried, i painted all the Armourparts with Evil Sunz Scarlet. I took care to leave some of the darker underground visible in the deep Areas and between Armourplates etc...

Step Three:
Next Step was to highlight the Edges and raised Areas with thin Lines of Wild Rider Red. While you paint this, allways keep in Mind that this Colour appears quite bright while you apply it, but it will darken while drying so the result after all is much less bright!

Step Four:
To refresh the used Colours and also to blend them softly, the painted Parts were glazed with Bloodletter.

Step Five (optinal! - not required)
If you want, you can refresh some of the Highlights by mixing Wild Rider Red 1:1 with Yriel Yellow. Just highlight the highest Areas and Edges but don´t cover the whole Layer of Wild Rider Red. Apply this Mix by using the side of the Brush rather than the Tip.

End of Part One...... tomorrow i´ll show you how i paint the black Half and the Armourdetails.
I hope you´ll find this usefull....

so far...Greetings,
Wiking

Gabriel Seth --> Sanguinius Priest Conversion W.I.P.

Yesterday i started a little Conversion. I found the Body of Gabriel Seth (Chaptermaster of the Flesh Tearers) in my Sparebox. At the same Time some Parts of an Space Marine Apothecary and a Powerfist  fell into my Hands.... so i started to convert the Mini into an Sanguinian Priest for my Angels Sanguine.

Here the Result so far, only the Details of the Paintjob have to be done.....

As you can see the conversions are very easy. Only swapping some Parts and adding some Partshere and there... (the Icon on the Backpack for Example) . Easy but effective....

WH40K Chaos Renegade Militia

Hi Folks and Fellows....

Today i want to share with you my first Squad of custom build Chaos Renegade Militias for my WH40K Chaos Project.

To build these Guys i used 2 different Kits from Games Workshop: one Box of WH Fantasy Empire Flaggelants and a Box of WH40K Imperial Guard Cadians.
Because sometimes less is more, I only added the Cadian Weapons and Arms to the Flaggelants to get these chaotic looking Guys.

I decided to use Green/Blue Clothings because i want to use Unit in my upcoming Alpha Legion Army. IMHO the Colours work well in addition to the tanned and bleached Skin i gave them. Finally i only had to add some Chaosicons (Parts of Chaosstars and easy "A´s" for Alpha Legion) to the Shoulderpads.

The Minis are based on Pieces of Cork which create really nice Rockformations. You have only to paint them in a Grey Basetone and after that apply some Pigments to let them look more realistic...

so here they are...

Winds of Change, new Tasks and lots of Work!

Hi all,

Long Time no see, but i´m allright and was veeery busy!
First i had to take care for my new Job (You can´t live and earn lots of Money only by painting Minis here in Germany.... Taxes, Taxes.... oh i forgot: Taxes! ^^) So it is a good Choice to have a Job for half a Day, so you allways will earn "safe" Money and you have enough Time to finish Comissions etc....

The second Change is that i am no longer Painter for my own! Now i´m Part of the Phantasos Spiele Paintingservice!

From now on, you will see lots of my works here:

But of course first Adress for new Stuff is here! ^^

Well, the first comission for Phantasos is done. Had to paint about 1300 Points of Orks for Warhammer 40K. It was a quite easy and funny Job, because i love Orks! (Proud owner of 3400 Points ^^)
Here the Video of the finished Job:

You can see some Pictures here:

Asteroth Conversion

This Mini is a Gift for a good Friend of mine. He will move to another Town and with this Mini for his entire Dark Angels Army he won´t forget me!
I convertet "Astorath", a charactermodel from GW´s Blood Angels row.
The wings were replaced by a pair of (much more impressive) Wings of a Dark Eldar scourge and his Axe was replaced by an two-handed Sword out of the Empire General Kit from Warhammer Fantasy.

Finally i only had to paint him in different Greentones to give him an "typical" Look of an Dark Angel Space Marine. I decided to use brighter Greens as usual to seperate him a little from the "normal" Dark Angels.

Well, here he is: "Estiroth - Angel of Disgrace"

I´m sorry but the Pics are quite bad quality (bad Light etc) But i was in hurry.... i hope i will be able to take some better Photos within the next Days....

SM Drop Pod (W.I.P.)

Some of you might remember, that i´m going to paint a Space Marine Army for one of my best friends. Nearly 2000 Points of Space Marines waiting for Colour! ^^
Now, his ordered Drop Pods arrived and so i started to paint the first of 3 Pods....

The Coloursceme is custommade. We decided to use medium Grey/White tones with Blue Contrasts. Citadel´s "Astronomican Grey" with a wash of "Gryphone Sepia" and a light Drybrush with Vallejos "Dead White" work well together. Later there were applyed further strokes of the Wash and finally i added some Chipping. First i painted irregular Stains with Vallejos "Dead White" which were filled afterwards with Vallejos "German Camo Dark Brown" to create the look of old Metal underneath the Grey/White paint.
Adding stains and sketches to the Blue parts will be applied next (after finishing the blendings to lighter Blue on them.

Here you can see the first Works on the Interiour of the Pod. I wanted to go on with the "used" Look even inside of the Pod and so i added silver spots with a small sponge to the Metal (painted with Vallejos "Gunmetal" and a wash of Vallejos "Smoke" and "Black Shade") by using Vallejo "Plata Silver".
The Black/Yellow Areas were weathered the same way like the Pylon shown above, but with Silver as the first Colour of the Stains instead of White.

Last but not least, a Picture of the Progress at the Hull of the Pod......
Much Work to do....... (and there are another 2 Pods waiting.....)

Bioshock-styled Dark Eldar Cronos Parasite Engine (W.I.P.)

At the moment, i´m very busy , painting Commissions for Valdemar. I have no "Deadline" but i want to finish the Minis as fast as possible. (further Pictures will follow within the next Days)
When i´m painting Stuff like this the whole Day i need some different "Brushstrokes" in the Evening.

Well, the following is one of these "different" Things i do actually.....
One Week ago i bought Reinforcements for my Dark Eldar Forces in form of a Talos Pain/ Cronos Parasite Engine. I love this Kit because of it´s weyrd and really disturbing Look. This Engine seems to come out straight of some morbid Nightmares...... That´s the Way i like! ^^

Well..... Bioshock is nearly the same kind of Disturbing Design. Additionally, it "works" with a great Choice of  cold and dark Colours to raise the Effect of Fear.

That´s why i decided to paint my Engine "Bioshock-styled" . Means: i try to use darkgreen and Turquoisetones as Maincolours and further Browns and Orangetones for Corrosion. The whole Look will be rounded up by Brass and Copper for the Metalparts.

Contrasting to this dark colours i will try to apply some very shiny sourcelights in White/Blue, Green or Orange.

Now, here´s the first Pic. As you can see, i assembled the Arms of the Talos instead the Cronos´s Tentaclearms. I started to apply the first scratches, Chippings and weathered/altered Areas.....
Still a lot of Work but i think i´m not to far away from my conceptional Idea......

Open Letter to Games Workshop...

Nothing more to say...... just watch it!

Battle Report Eldar vs Dark Eldar - 750 Points (Part 2)

Hello all!
As i promised, now the second Part of the Report:

Turn 2:
Haraels Warwalker Squadron turned arround and fired at the Raider on his right Flank. What should i say? The Result was horrible... too much Scatterlasers and a Rocket are definetely too much for the weak Armour. The Raider was destroyed and the Archon and his Hagashin had to bail out.
The Guards came near to support the Walkers. The Eldar HQ moved to support the Avengers.

On the other Side of the Table the Dire Avenger fired at my Hyemshin, using theyr Ability "Shurikenstorm". 3 of 5 Hyemshin were knocked Out and the remaining 2 failed theyr Moraletest and went away.

Harael ended his Turn, Result so far: 2:1 for the Eldar.

Now i started my Turn. But first i lost my Hyemshin (under half the Unitsize, so they left the Battlefield.. new Result 3:1 for the Eldar)
Now there was not much left to command, so i moved the Ravager closer to the Warwalkers (a fatal failure as you will see) and my Hagashin moved and charged the Guards and the Walkers.

The Combat wasn´t effective, and i was only able to terminate the half Guardsquad. My Kabalitewarriors tryed to run into the Action  but without much success.

Turn 3:
Harael moved his HQ in combatrange to my Ravager and by using theyr Hagun Zars my Ravager turned into ashes.

Haraels Guards tryed to kill my Hagashin but they had to realise how fantastic a 4+ CC saver is! ^^
The Avengers went into the small Tower and the HQ reformated under the Tower.
Result 4:1 for the Eldar

I started my Turn trying to get my Kabalites in the right position to fight Haraels HQ, but these little Bastards were well covered under the Tower. So i continued the close Combat. I splitted the Hagashins and the Archons Attacks so that i were able to fight the Guards with my HQ and the Walkers with the Impulsmines  of the Hagashin. The Archon did well and killed nearly the rest of the Guards (only one single Guard left). The Hagashin were not so effective and so only one Walker was destroyed. so after this, the further Result was still 4:1

the last Turns and a Surprise will be shown in the last Part of the Report.
But first a little Picture for all the "only Miniatures- Follower" of my Blog! ^^
The first Testpainting of an Cäsar Ork (more Orks will be shown soon... much more orks!! ^^)

The Eldar hat the first Turn (i missed to test if i could steal the Initiative.....) So the Battle started...
The Eldar Serpent moved forward in a better Fireposition, but missed the targeted Raider. The Warwalkers unleashed a Storm of Scatterlasers and blasted my first Raider. The Passengers (Kabalitewarrior) now had to walk.... (Note that i changed the two Raiders because a better look on the Photos. On this Picture the Painted Raider is blasted. On later Pictures you will see this Raider again ^^)
The Eldar Guards and the HQ just moved forward. The Guards tried to shoot down the other Raider but missed it.. Harael ended his Turn and the Result so far was 1:0 for the Eldar.

Now it was my Turn. First i moved the Ravager and my Hyemshin to fight the Serpent. The Ravager shot the Tank down and the boarded Avengers had to bail out. They just came into the Line of Fire from my Hyemshin...... but only one Avanger died!
My second Raider moved fast and straight on the right Side of the Battlefield to get in a better Position to unload the waiting Archon and his Fellows, the Hagashin. Because the Raider boosted forward, the Passengers were not able to come out.
My Kabalite Warriors walked and ran to the next availiable Piece of Cover, unable to do more this Turn.
So i ended my Turn and the further result was 1:1.

To be continued......

Repainting the first Sentinel

Hello all,

today i want to share with you the first impressions of my ongoing "repainting" works on some Imperial Guard Miniatures for WH40K which i got from a Friend of mine last Week. He had no further need for them so i was lucky to obtain them because i want to build a little Army of Imperial Guards as support for my Sororitas in WH40K.

First i decided to paint the Sentinel in "british" Colours of WW2. I painted the whole Model in "Russian Uniform" from Vallejo and gave it a wash wit GW´s "Devlan Mud before i brushed it with Russian Uniform again. After this i applied a very soft brushing with Vallejos "Middlestone" all over the Model to light it up. For the Edges and Highlights i used Vallejos "Green Grey" applied in thin lines. After this  the Model was particular washed with thinned Devlan Mud (Ratio 1 Part destilled Water, 1 Part Isopropanol 70% and 2 Parts Devlan Mud)

The stitchings and chippings were be brought onto the Model by using Vallejos "German Blackbrown" highlighted with "Green Grey"

Next Steps to do:
Finish the Metal parts, aging the Weapon and Legs, final Detail works on Aquillas, Lights etc... and finally the Base.

Hope you like it....

40K..."very British" ^^

Today´s the last of the celebrating Days of Christmas in Germany, so it´s time to "warm up" my Fingers for coming Paintjobs after the 3 Days of celebrating and lazyness.

For this instance, i decided to give one of my Warhammer 40K imperial Officers a "british" look. I truly love the colors of the british Uniforms of world war 2, so it was great fun to paint this little guy.

"God safe the Quee...öhm...Emperor!" ^^

As allways when i paint british uniforms, i used Vallejos "70921 English Uniform" for the Clothing, applied some washing with GW´s "Devlan Mud" and finally added Layers of English Uniform and a final Mix of it with Vallejos "72039 Plague Brown" to highlight the whole clothing. The Armourplates were painted with Vallejo "70924 Russian Uniform" and the Webbing was painted with "70988 Khaki"

Now i only have to apply some fictive Unit insignias on the shoulderpads. I think small Insignias in Red/Blue will work well.
Maybe i will start a whole 40K Imperial Army in "british" Style, but first there are too many other projects to finish. (and i don´t know an facturer who offers seperate Heads in 28mm with typical british Helmets.)

Thats all for today....

Dark Eldar Conversion

Hi all,

Today i present my custom build Dark Eldar Hellion Lord Sathonyx.
Because he´s listed in the actual Codex but there´s no Model availiable, i started to convert one of the Hellions out of the Box to this Charactermodel.

I´ve just added some Blades and Skulls at his Glider to let it look more unique and different from the others. The Grenade Launchers were put onto the Glider instead of assembling them under the Wings. Easy but the Glider looks more nasty now.

Sathonyx himself was build from Kabalewarrior parts and a Cloak from my Bitsbox. I choosed the heavy upper Armour because once he WAS a Kabale Warrior till the Day he was exiled. And i think he is proud enough (or still ? ^^) to wear his old Armour. In addition the Armour let him look more like a personality.
Only the arms and legs were taken from the original Kit.

There are only a few Paintings to do till he is finished, but i think in a few hours he will be ready to bring Terror onto the Gamingtable!! Like allways, the Miniature was painted with Vallejo Acrylics and some GW washes.

Hope you like him!

EDIT: Yahoooooo! cracked the "magic" Number of 1000 Hits! ^^
